We're Back!

Did you miss us?

We arrived safely this afternoon after a short delay with our connection in Detroit. Caleb did great on the plane today, but was a little fussy on the drive home.

I haven't even had a chance to look at the pictures we took, so no vacation post for a couple of days. We're also waiting for Grandpa Larry to send us some of his pictures.

All is well, and The Daily Caleb should resume tomorrow.

This Blog is Taking a Vacation

And so are we! Tomorrow we're going back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, for a week of boating, fishing and just plain relaxing. We may even get some of the famous Mackinac fudge!

Mmmmmm . . . . fudge. . .

Anyway, we'll be back a week from tomorrow, and regular posting will resume once we get back. I know you can't wait for the photo of Caleb water skiing.

Some background: Our local Christian radio station, WGTS 91.9 FM, conducts a call-in contest twice a day called the Family Name Game. They announce a child's first name, and if you have a child with that name and are the first to call in, you win food from Chick-fil-A.

The name for this afternoon was, you guessed it, Caleb! We wouldn't have known if Laura's friend Donna hadn't called us. So, thanks, Donna; we owe you a dinner at Chick-fil-A.

A trip to see the Mystics

Caleb took his first trip to a Washington Mystics game Sunday. The Mystics (D.C.'s professional women's basketball team) won a convincing victory over the Seattle Storm 89-57. More importantly, Caleb's godmother, Missy, took the opportunity to fulfill one of her vital roles as godmother and began Caleb's instruction of the game of basketball. (Caleb was much more impressed with the red hallways of the Verizon Center).

The Freedom play their home games at the Maryland Soccerplex, which is just up the road from us in Germantown. It is a nice facility as you can see in the photo below, showing the team warming up before the game.

Buddy the Helper Cat

Today, I spent some time caulking the baseboards in the kitchen. Since this activity took place near Buddy's food dish, he was naturally interested in what I was doing. As always, he was very helpful and inspected my work very closely . . . maybe too closely?



To his credit, he was surprisingly cooperative as Laura peeled the dried caulk off his face.

We can has babysitter?

In other news, we're going out tonight without Caleb! We get to go to dinner and see a movie, just the two of us! Thanks, Tina and Steve, for volunteering to babysit, and we hope the experience can prepare you just a little for your own new arrival in a few months.
